Want To Look Youthful For Longer?

By Carolyn Hansen

There are so many anti-aging aids on the market these days. Skin creams, hormonal therapies, supplements, surgery and injections and the list goes on.... Exercise normally conjures up images of toning our body, helping us lose weight and keeping us healthy and we often do not think of it as having any specific anti-aging effects on our skin and in particular our facial skin.
But without doubt it does and regular proper strength training exercise can play a big part in how young and healthy the skin on your face looks. It is no secret that working your muscles has important benefits for the skin that sits on top of them. By firming and toning muscles under previously sagging, loose skin not only will you improve the appearance of your body you will improve your facial tone as well.
When you perform a strength exercise you have to brace your entire body as you do the exercise against the resistance so every muscle in your body contracts and that includes the ones in your face as well. So you get a mini face lift whenever you have a workout if done at a reasonable level of intensity (degree of effort). When your facial muscles work in this manner they increase their tone and firmness and the skin attached to them is pulled tighter reducing sagginess and wrinkles.
Strength training exercise can play a big role in how healthy your skin looks, feels and how youthful it remains. Your exercise sessions can deliver results similar to a surgical face-lift over time but without the knife. You will have more control and influence over the rate at which your face ages.
When you get your muscles working you increase circulation of your blood. This aids the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to skin cells which nourish and rejuvenates them as well as flushing away toxins that do damage to the skin. It also stimulates the cells deep down in the base layer of your skin so they become more active and perform better. When they perform better you will look much more youthful.
This is why people who are very active always look so much younger than people who live sedentary lifestyles. Although as you age your skin will continue to age you can do so much to remain youthful and the earlier you start the more impact it will have on how you age. It is about staying young from the inside where it really matters. Deep down at cellular level is where you want the real meaningful changes to be made.
You want the bodies 'growth and repair' hormones to continually be stimulated so you can stay younger - and not just a little bit younger -a whole lot younger. These 'youth' hormones can only be stimulated by consistent vigorous movement such as when you work your muscular system with proper strength training exercise.
Living a no proper exercise lifestyle will do nothing to keep you looking and feeling youthful in fact it will speed up the process and you will look and feel years (even decades) older than you need too. Make the decision and get yourself started on your strength training program and never stop so you can minimize the effect the passing years will have on you.
